Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino had to defend his side after they were knocked out of the FA Cup on Sunday.

Vinnie Jones has claimed that Tottenham will ‘struggle’ for the rest of the season as he slammed manager Mauricio Pochettino for his ‘ridiculous’ trophy comments.
After Spurs’ FA Cup defeat to Crystal Palace at the weekend, Pochettino told Sky Sports that winning trophies only ‘builds your ego’ as they were also knocked out of the Carabao Cup days before the Selhurst Park clash.
Former FA Cup winner Jones was perplexed by Pochettino’s comments as he made a claim about what will happen to them for the rest of the season.
“I think that’s ridiculous,” Jones told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on 28/01/2019. “[It has been] said all season, you haven’t brought anybody. They’re trying to limp in at fourth place.
“They have nobody who could fill their boots [the injured players]. They’re very thin in the squad. Big squads win the league.
“I knew it was going to kick them up the backside. A couple of bad injuries or something like that and there goes their top four. They really going to struggle now.”
In recent weeks, Pochettino has lost a number of key players in the attacking third, with midfielder Dele Alli and striker Harry Kane both suffering long-term injuries.

Added with that, for a brief period they were also without versatile attacker Heung-min Son, who was on international duty with South Korea.
Nonetheless, following those defeats, Spurs will now be turning their attention to finishing in the Premier League’s top four and potentially making their mark in the Champions League.
At this moment in time, Pochettino’s side are sitting in third place, seven points ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal and sixth-placed Manchester United.
On Wednesday night, they host high-flying Watford at Wembley, with their Champions League knockout encounters with Borussia Dortmund to begin next month.
