Former Leeds United midfielder Vinnie Jones is ready to do his bit after the Whites fell out of the Championship’s top six on Monday.

Garry Monk’s men were beaten 1-0 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers, allowing Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham to leapfrog them into fifth and sixth place respectively.

It is the first time since October that Leeds have failed to occupy a play-off place and the Whites may now have to win all three of their remaining fixtures to ensure they return.

United travel to Burton Albion this weekend and Wigan Athletic on the season’s final day, with Norwich City the final visitors to Elland Road a week on Saturday.

And Jones says he is considering a return to West Yorkshire in a bid to improve his former club’s fortunes.

“It looks like i might have to go to #leeds Norwich #game to cheer the boys on to the play-offs mot”, he tweeted on Tuesday.

If Leeds are promoted this season, they won’t be the only one of Jones’ old sides to do so, with Sheffield United’s status as League One champions confirmed on Monday.

And Jones added: “well done #SheffieldUnited superb”.

The Blades, who appeared in the Premier League more recently than Leeds, have spent the last six years exiled in the third tier.
