Leeds United’s automatic prormotion hopes suffered a blow on Friday.

Vinnie Jones has reacted to Leeds United’s crushing defeat on Good Friday.
The Whites dropped out of the automatic promotion places with three Championship games to go following a shock 2-1 defeat by Wigan Athletic at Elland Road.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side faced 10 men for over 70 minutes and took the lead, but an unlikely comeback saw Leeds fall to third on goal difference following Sheffield United’s win.
United won the Second Division title in 1990 but suffered a 2-1 home defeat by Barnsley with three left which jeopardised their promotion hopes.
Jones played that day and the former midfielder took a moment to remind Leeds fans of history on Twitter in an attempt to boost spirits.
Jones appears to have got the year and date wrong, given it was April 25, but the scoreline and context is correct and therefore it’s a very salient point.
The point is, Leeds, whose goal difference is worse by only four, are still very much in the hunt for Premier League promotion, though the fans’ collective dejection is understandable.
Bielsa’s troops visit Brentford on Easter Monday, while the Blades are away to Hull City.
