Vinnie Jones has claimed on Twitter that he remains puzzled by Garry Monk’s departure as Leeds United manager, noting that he is “reserved” about his successor.
Leeds appointed Thomas Christiansen as head coach this week as the Yorkshire club finally replaced Monk, who quit last month.
The 38-year-old, who is now at Middlesbrough, resigned from his role at Elland Road after reportedly being unhappy at his contractual situation and the club’s decision to assign a Head of Recruitment role, with Victor Orta taking the job.
It took a while but Leeds finally found a replacement and appointed the Dane on Thursday.
Christiansen’s CV in management is a tad underwhelming given the calibre of names that United were linked to, with the 44-year-old leading APOEL Nicosia to glory in Cyprus’s top flight last season, having finished second with AEK Larnaca two years in a row in the same division.
The Whites’ fanbase is divided over whether Christiansen – who also led APOEL into the last 16 of the Europa League last term – will be a good move, and Jones, who spent a year at Leeds until 1990, admits he is also unsure.
