Aston Villa were beaten 3-0 by Brentford last night.

Vinnie Jones has suggested that he expected a big improvement from Aston Villa under Steve Bruce, but he has been surprised by their poor form so far.

Bruce took over from Roberto Di Matteo early on in the season, and although he sparked an initial improvement, the claret and blues have been unable to break out of their mid-table position.

Villa have spent big in the January transfer window, but they were awful against Brentford last night.

Villa started with new signings Conor Hourihane, Birkir Bjarnason and Henri Lansbury in midfield at Griffin Park, but they still fell to a 3-0 defeat.

And Jones has suggested that Bruce may need more time to fix all of Villa’s problems.

Villa’s defeat against Brentford has left them sitting in 14th place in the Championship table.

The Midlands side have made no secret of their desire to catch up with the play off chasing pack, but they are currently 10 points away from the top six.
