Vinnie Jones gave his take on Leeds United’s Championship playoffs semi-final tie against Derby County on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (6:54am, May 6, 2019).

The former Leeds midfielder has admitted his disappointment at Marcelo Bielsa’s side’s defeat to Ipswich Town in the Championship at the weekend.

The Whites will take on Derby in the playoffs semi-finals, and Jones wants Leeds to have a go.

Jones said about Leeds on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Monday morning (6:54am, May 6, 2019): “They have got three rounds of cup finals. I was disappointed again at the weekend with the Leeds result.

“Derby have had a great result. I am just hoping that they have got something in the tank, Leeds, and they really come out and go for it.”

Kemar Roofe of Leeds United celebrates winning a penalty during the Sky Bet Championship match between Ipswich Town and Leeds United at Portman Road on May 05, 2019 in Ipswich, England.

Meanwhile, former Leeds United left-back Ben Parker has suggested that the West Yorkshire outfit’s success in the big games will help them in the playoffs.

The Daily Star quotes Parker as saying: “It’s about doing it under pressure now and more often than not in the pressure games throughout the season we have delivered.

“Go to Norwich away, go to Sheffield United away, we won there, West Brom at home, the Derby performances, big occasions when we need to win the games.”

Tricky tie

Derby are a strong team, and manager Frank Lampard will be determined to get the Rams promoted to the Premier League.

The Rams are on a high after having just clinched a playoff spot, while Leeds’s recent results and performances have been disappointing.

Leeds have to step up, and the players need to take their chances, as not scoring enough goals in key moments has been a main issue.
