Vinnie Jones told Talksport he has been approached regarding a role in a proposed film about Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy.

It has been speculated that the hardman footballer turned Hollywood actor had been lined up to play Vardy’s old boss Nigel Pearson, who has since moved on to East Midlands rivals Derby County.

Pearson however, was suspended by the Rams last week, following an alleged bust-up with chairman Mel Morris (the Telegraph).

If the reports are true, this would not be the 53-year-old’s first outburst, after he famously labelled one reporter “an ostrich” during a Leicester City press conference last year.

Asked if the film speculation was accurate, Jones told Talksport: “I don’t think I could be that grumpy for an hour and a half… that miserable for an hour and a half in a movie!

“He’s just got the bullet again – maybe he should turn into the ostrich and put his head into the sand for a little while and calm down.

“They have come to me, just to make it official – there’s no script, there’s no nothing. Listen, Vardy’s a great lad, anything to do with Vardy I’m interested to promote the lad.”

Vardy, who is no stranger to controversy himself, was famously plucked from non-league by Pearson’s Leicester in 2012, and went on to fire to the Foxes to Premier League glory under Claudio Ranieri last season.

Jones said of the England international: “It’s very similar to my own story,” adding: “Obviously I haven’t ruled it (the film) out.”

Pearson is yet to be dismissed by Derby, although he is not expected to return to his post according to the Telegraph.

Rams assistant Chris Powell, a close friend of Pearson from their Leicester days, has since acquired the role on a caretaker basis.
