Leeds United and Aston Villa were involved in a chaotic Championship encounter on Sunday.

Vinnie Jones has controversially claimed that he would have done the same as Pontus Jansson and tried to stop Aston Villa from scoring during their chaotic 1-1 draw with Leeds United on Sunday at Elland Road.
In a drama-filled afternoon in Yorkshire, Mateusz Klich opened the scoring in the second half despite the opposition thinking that the ball was going to be kicked out of play for the injured Jonathan Kodjia.
Following minutes of chaos, pushing, shoving and heated arguments from players and coaching staff alike, Marcelo Bielsa allowed Villa to walk the ball into the back of the net in a classy act of sportsmanship. But as Albert Adomah was trying to equalise, a clearly annoyed Jansson tried to stop him from scoring.
Speaking to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show on TalkSport (29/04/2019 at 6:45 am), former Wimbledon hardman Jones shared his thoughts on a crazy afternoon at Elland Road.
“You have got to play on,” Jones told TalkSport. “If the referee thinks it’s ungentlemanly conduct he could’ve blown up the whistle before the forward got it and went through and scored.
“You know the Villa players are pointing, ‘put it out’. Then all of a sudden, they start defending. If I was in that situation, I would have gone on with it. It is a hard one.
“Same as Jansson, when he was defending it. I think it might have done the same with the adrenalin going and everything else. If there was more on the game. Would the manager have given that goal? Because if he would have he would have been hanging from the rafters at Leeds town hall.”

It all started when Kodjia injured his ankle near the centre circle. As he went down injured, the Villa players called for the ball to be put out of play.
As the ball landed at Tyler Roberts’ feet by the touchline, for a second it looked as though he was going to kick the ball out of play, but instead, he played a through ball to Klich who scored which angered the Villa players.
Conor Hourihane grabbed him by the neck instantly, whilst Anwar El Ghazi was shown a straight red for an apparent elbow on Patrick Bamford. Replays showed that he made no contact with the striker. All in all, it ended 1-1 in what was one of the most dramatic Championship games ever seen.
