Vincent Kompany has responded to the prediction made by Pep Guardiola about him becoming the manager of Manchester City one day.

The £131,000-a-week man has been touted to take over the Sky Blues job, much like was the case with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard during his time at Aston Villa. With the Belgian doing a magnificent job at Burnley while playing a breathtaking brand of football, many believe he would be the perfect fit for the role.

Vincent Kompany, who is considered as one of the biggest icons at Manchester City has now responded to the claim spouted by Pep Guardiola that he could return to his former club as a manager in the future.

Considering the Clarets are flying this season, sitting pretty at the top of the Championship table, it seemed like a matter of time before the club legend returns to the Etihad Stadium.

However, Vincent Kompany has confirmed that he has no plans to potentially even succeed Pep Guardiola as Manchester City manager, while praising the Spaniard as well.

“[Manchester] City have the best manager in the world and I hope he [Pep Guardiola] stays for another 10 years. If not, they should have the best manager in the world after Pep… I’m way down the ranking so there isn’t even a second in my thoughts”, he told BBC Sport.

Vincent Kompany should stay patient

It is nice to see that Vincent Kompany is not rushing into things despite making all the right headlines at Burnley, especially taking into account how much of a huge leap it would be for him to take over at Manchester City, especially as the manager after Pep Guardiola.

While it is incredible to see how well he has adapted to managing the current league leaders, gaining the experience of coaching in the Premier League amongst other factors should be his prime focus.

As seen with Frank Lampard in particular, rushing one’s progression is never advisable.
