Everton should move for Manchester City captain if he is made available, as has been suggested.
Everton’s terrific start to the season subsided in October with a poor run of form, but a win against West Ham has them back on track.
The Toffees are into sixth place, just five points off the top, and there is real optimism that Ronald Koeman’s side can achieve a strong finish.

The strong start will only encourage the strong ambition they showed in the transfer market this summer, and make them a more attractive club to potential signings.
One player who could really improve their squad is Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany, who a couple of seasons ago could have seemed unattainable, but soon could be a genuine option.

The Mail reported a fortnight ago that Kompany is likely to be allowed to leave by Pep Guardiola, who he is yet to completely win over.
Kompany’s injuries have meant Guardiola has had to work without the Belgian, and City could be tempted by a big bid from Everton, even despite the Spaniard’s insistence he is not for sale [via BBC].
Kompany is now 30, and a two time Premier League winner with City, and could find a move to Everton tempting if it does not work out for him at City, given that they would allow him to remain in the North West of England, while also competing at the top end of the table.

While his fitness issues would be a worry, when healthy he is among the league’s best defenders, and in the short term, he could form a fearsome partnership with Ashley Williams, and replace Phil Jagielka, while Mason Holgate could sit in reserve.
He would be a marquee name for the Toffees, and show the rest of the Premier League they mean business, and intend to compete strongly for a Champions League position over the next few seasons.
