The Dutchman has struggled for form at Spurs, but Damien Hertog is backing him to find his form.
Vincent Janssen’s former youth coach Damien Hertog has been speaking about the Dutch striker’s time at Tottenham Hotspur so far.
Spurs decided to bring in some striking support for Harry Kane in the summer so they battled to sign Janssen from AZ Alkmaar.
He cost the club, according to Sky Sports, around £18.6 million and was supposed to be a natural goal threat. However, he has struggled to settle at Spurs since making the move, and has not proven himself in front of goal at White Hart Lane. He has managed just three goals for Spurs in 20 appearances – all of those coming from the penalty spot.

But Hertog, who managed Janssen during his time at Feyenoord as a youngster, insists that if anyone knows about overcoming adversity it is the Tottenham striker.
“We wanted to loan him if necessary at Excelsior (Rotterdam), but he dared not.
“Vincent was at that time already sober, he would not be fooled and knew what was for sale in the world. He only had a little baby fat. He had to train harder. Vincent is a beautiful, extreme example of what can happen.
“I saw his qualities, however, that he could finish with left and right and he was strong, but I did not know he was the future striker of the Dutch national team. Then you can resist defenders of international class. That looked I do not for me. I am very proud of Vincent. It’s brilliantly what he did.”

Janssen is clearly a determined and hard-working individual and in time it seems those who know him would back him to be a hit at Tottenham Hotspur.
But time does not come to many in the Premier League and Janssen will need to start finding his form soon if he is to have a career at White Hart Lane.
