Tottenham haven’t had a good time of it when it comes to big money striker purchases in recent years. Will Fenerbahce see more from the former Spurs duo?

Vincent Janssen’s spell at Tottenham Hotspur may well have come to an end – at least for the time being – with Fenerbahce confirming on their website that the 23-year-old was set to move to Turkey, and the Mail suggesting it would be a season long loan from the North Londoners.
The Dutchman has had a notoriously difficult time at Spurs after a big money move from AZ, scoring just six goals in 35 matches after top scoring in the Eredivisie to earn his Premier League switch. He will now be hoping that his loan to the Istanbul giants will help him rediscover his earlier form, to either earn a second chance under Mauricio Pochettino or a permanent move elsewhere.

The writing may have been on the wall for Janssen at Tottenham – who has just one minute of playing time so far this season – after Fernando Llorente arrived from Swansea and the Netherlands international was then left out of the club’s Champions League squad.
Interestingly, he will be lining up alongside another former Tottenham flop at Fenerbahce, with Roberto Soldado – the London club’s most expensive ever striker purchase – arriving from Villarreal for £9.2 million this summer according to ESPN.

Dutch legend Robin van Persie is also at the club, as is former Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel, but with a number of their stars on the wrong side of 30, manager Aykut Kocaman will be hoping Janssen’s undoubted combativeness and effort offers something fresh in the attacking areas of the side.
Fener will be playing Europa League football after finishing third last season.
