Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has a real opportunity to salvage his season at the club after a disappointing spell so far.

The Dutchman came in hailed as a competitor for Harry Kane, but has failed to produce, scoring only one goal from open play this season so far.

Kane is out injured and expected to return now in mid-April, giving Janssen a short window of opportunity to seize his chance.

The striker sent a message out on Twitter yesterday showing his desire to come good, recognising the crucial upcoming stretch.

Unfortunately for Janssen, he faces a battle to get fit for this weekend’s clash with Burnley.

He missed Holland’s international fixtures with a chest infection, having been called up but then not used after feeling ill.

Speaking at his press conference relayed by the club’s Twitter account, head coach Mauricio Pochettino said yesterday that Janssen will face a late fitness test.

This indicates that even if he is passed fit, the Dutchman will most likely be starting on the bench.

Janssen clearly realises the importance of the opportunity which could lie before him, but luck has not been with him.
