Tottenham striker says his recovery is going well.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has offered a hopeful injury update to fans via his Instagram page.

Janssen has not played since a brief substitute appearance in the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in late November, and is sidelined with ankle ligament damage.

On Thursday afternoon the striker sent a message to supporters via his Instagram page, commenting that he is upbeat about his recovery.

His message read: “Injury is going well, can’t wait to be back on the field again.”

According to PremierInjuries.com, Janssen is projected to return to action on New Year’s Day, when they visit Watford.

A return at home to Burnley this weekend will be too soon, but if there is any way he can be available for the trip to Southampton on December 28 then his availability will be welcomed, to take the pressure off Harry Kane.

Signing just one striker as cover for Kane meant there was always a risk should one get injured, then the other would be depended upon to play entire matches back to back through busy periods like this.

Spurs would certainly rather that Kane is the one which is available, but if Janssen can return sooner to lend a hand, then it will help his team out.

His comment demonstrates he is feeling good about his recovery, and an early comeback should not be discounted.
