Tottenham Hotspur’s Dutch striker had his heart set on a move to Spurs.
Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen
Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has been talking to Helden this week, in which he admitted he could have joined another Premier League team this summer.
Spurs needed a new striker this summer to finally add some strength in depth in the position. Harry Kane spent most of last season as the only striker at Spurs and needed back-up.

After scoring goals at will in the Dutch league, as well as impressing with the Netherlands national team, Janssen became their man.
They snapped him up from AZ Alkmaar but certainly had competition for his signature. The striker himself confirmed as much to Helden this week. He stated that Wolfsburg, which was well known, and a Premier League rival both had offers on the table to sign him this summer.

However, Tottenham was always his first-choice:
“There were clubs that wanted to pay even more money than Spurs. But I immediately told AZ: ‘I just want Tottenham and not to a club that might be offering you more.’
“Wolfsburg was interested and also a club in the Premier League, but I think it is not right to call it, too.”
Since making the move to Spurs the Dutch striker has found it difficult to adapt to the Premier League.

He is still to score in the Premier League and his one goal for the club came from the penalty spot against Gillingham in the EFL Cup.
Spurs fans will undoubtedly hope he ends that drought soon and can become an important cog in Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham machine.
