The 22-year-old reportedly cost Tottenham Hotspur £18.5 million.
Vincent Janssen has suggested in an interview with Helden that Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy was desperate to sign him.
Having netted 30 times for AZ Alkmaar last season, the Dutchman’s star was very much on the rise and, according to The Mail, Levy sanctioned an £18.5 million deal to bring the 22-year-old to Tottenham in the summer.
But things have not quite worked out for the Netherlands hitman as yet.

Janssen has made 15 appearances in all competitions for Spurs – 11 of which came in the Premier League – but he only has three goals under his belt, and all were penalties.
The striker claims that he could have snubbed a move to White Hart Lane in favour of a much more lucrative switch elsewhere, but says that Levy convinced him to join Tottenham.

“Believe me, I had could have earned much more, even more than in England,” he told Helden.
“The owner of Tottenham Daniel Levy also said that they wanted me very much and that I should be proud to wear the shirt of Spurs. I was sensitive to it. “
Early days, but few would argue that Janssen, at the moment, is far more of a miss than a hit by the Lilywhites chief.
That being said, manager Mauricio Pochettino has a knack of helping his players improve, with Erik Lamela and Son Heung-min being prime examples, so there is still time to make a Tottenham star of the out-of-form forward yet.
