Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen scored his first goal for the club in the EFL Cup yesterday.
Vincent Janssen has assured Tottenham Hotspur fans that he is ready for a prolonged run in their first-team, as per the Hampstead and Highgate newspaper.
Janssen scored his first goal for Tottenham from the penalty spot in their EFL Cup clash with Gillingham at White Hart Lane yesterday.
The Dutch international has made a slow start to his career at White Hart Lane, but the pressure is on him now – with Harry Kane set to miss the next eight weeks’ worth of action.
And Janssen insists that he is ready to make the step up to the first-team, after having time to settle in with the Lilywhites.
“I’ve been here now for a lot of weeks,” Janssen said. “I had the pre-season here and the manager gave me chances. It’s nice to get minutes and I’m happy I will get a chance to do that. I’m ready to play.
“It’s more physical football here and you know that when you come to England there are a lot of players who like to play this game. But I like it also so it’s not a problem and I just have to adapt, and it goes very well.”
Janssen’s next chance to impress in a Spurs shirt is likely to come in the weekend at the Riverside Stadium against Middlesbrough.
Tottenham have made a very encouraging start to the new campaign, and currently sit in third place in the Premier League table.
Without Kane there are question marks over their firepower though, and it will be up to Janssen to prove his doubters wrong over the coming weeks.
