Vincent Janssen scores in the Netherlands’ win against England in March
New Tottenham Hotspur signing Vincent Janssen has explained why he was so keen to complete a move to White Hart Lane.
Spurs finally confirmed Janssen’s arrival on Tuesday morning, after the Dutchman agreed a four year deal with Mauricio Pochettino’s team.
Mauricio Pochettino has finally got his man
The Londoners’ initial bid was first reported in the Dutch press three weeks ago, while West Ham United and Paris Saint Germain both made attempts to sign the striker in the meantime, according to the Mirror and L’Equipe respectively.
But the lure of Spurs proved too much for the Janssen, who divulged his decision making in an interview with the club’s official website.
“It’s a beautiful club,” the former AZ Alkmaar man told TottenhamHotspur.com. “I think I’ve a good chance to develop myself here. I can train with a young, talented group and with very good staff.”
Janssen, for whom Spurs have paid £17 million according to BBC Sport, topped the Eredivisie goalscoring charts last season – his first at that level – with 27 strikes.
The 22 year old becomes the Lilywhites’ second new signing after Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama, who arrived in north London last month.
