Tottenham Hotspur’s Vincent Janssen has scored once in his first nine matches.
Vincent Janssen has told the London Evening Standard that he has full confidence in his own ability to come good for Tottenham Hotspur.
Janssen has had to endure a difficult start at Spurs, following his £18.6 million (Daily Mail) transfer from AZ Alkmaar in the summer.
The Dutch forward has only found the back of the net once for Spurs – in an EFL Cup tie against Gillingham.
But Janssen insists that he will start hitting the back of the net soon, as he has been through similarly difficult periods before.
“After I joined Alkmaar, I didn’t score for seven league games but soon afterwards, I started to score,” Janssen said.
“In a season, every striker has some periods where he doesn’t score. It doesn’t matter to me. I know what I can do, so the goals here will come, for sure.”
Janssen has now played nine times for Tottenham in all competitions.
It seems that the 22-year-old will have a chance to continue in Spurs’ first-team, too, with Harry Kane currently sidelined with injury.
Tottenham’s next match comes against Manchester City, and if Mauricio Pochettino’s side can pick up the victory they will close the gap on the league leaders to just one point.
