Vincent Janssen comments on Tottenham Hotspur future

Vincent Janssen wants to remain at Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has suggested to The Sun that he does not plan to leave the club in the summer transfer window.

Janssen joined Tottenham from AZ in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £17 million.

Much was expected of the 22-year-old, but the Dutchman has been a huge disappointment at White Hart Lane this season.

The Netherlands international has scored only two goals and created just 15 chances in 24 Premier League matches for Spurs so far this campaign.

According to a recent report in The Daily Mail, Turkish giants Galatasaray are interested in signing Janssen and are willing to pay £15m to secure his services in the summer transfer window.

Janssen, though, has made it clear that he does not plan to leave Tottenham in the summer transfer window.

The Dutchman has also praised the White Hart Lane faithful. The youngster’s recent goal in the 4-0 victory over Bournemouth at home in the Premier League was cheered by the fans, and he was touched by that.

“There have been a lot of rumours about me leaving but I have not been at the club for a year yet,” Janssen told The Sun. “When I joined I signed a long contract and I am happy here.

“Of course I am disappointed with my number of goals but I am not a quitter. I like the club — my team-mates, the staff, the fans, the training, everything — and we are doing well, so why would I leave?”

“I know and I must admit it does surprise me,” added the Dutchman about the cheers he got against Bournemouth. “If I was at another club I’d probably be getting slaughtered. But it’s not like that here.

“The manager, staff, the players and even the fans realise sometimes it takes time for a player to settle at a new club in a new country.

“They can also see I am working hard and want to put it right. I can feel their love and support and I truly appreciate it, especially the fans.

“They could have turned and they haven’t. They still cheer me on and sing my name. I feel very humbled. Maybe that is why I am so confident it will come good.”
