Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has admitted to De Telegraaf that he wants more playing time, but refused to say where he’d be playing next season.
The Netherlands international endured something of a poor first season in the Premier League following a £17 million summer switch 12 months ago.
The 22-year-old netted twice in 27 league appearances, but only seven of those were from the start.
Speculation has mounted that the former AZ Alkmaar hitman could return to his homeland, but Janssen refused to comment on that.
“I cannot say anything about that,” Janssen told De Telegraaf when asked about a possible move back to the Eredivisie. “I keep all options open.
He added: “[My future] is a matter for after the holidays. I want the prospect of more playing time, but otherwise I’m now better keeping my mouth shut.”
Janssen made 37 appearances in all competitions last term and only managed five goals – three of which were penalties – so it is clear that a huge improvement is needed if he is to realistically challenge Harry Kane.
In his defence, he is stuck behind arguably the world’s finest number nine, after Kane netted 29 Premier League goals last term to secure the Golden Boot.
