Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has told Algemeen Dagblad in his native Netherlands that he will think about his future after international duty.
Janssen, 22, was a major signing for Tottenham last summer, as Spurs swooped to land him from AZ Alkmaar, where he had scored 31 goals in 49 games following a 2015 move from Almere City.
The striker was seen as a player who could take some pressure off Harry Kane in attack, but he endured a miserable first season in North London, scoring just two Premier League goals – and only one of them came from open play.

With only six goals in all competitions, four of which were penalties, Janssen failed to impress in a Spurs shirt, and manager Mauricio Pochettino may subsequently choose to bring in another striker this summer.
Turkish newspaper Fanatik reported over the weekend that Galatasaray are again interested in signing Janssen this summer, whilst there may well be other teams willing to take a punt on the Dutchman should Spurs decide to cut their losses.

Despite his poor record with Tottenham, Janssen has kept his place in the Netherlands national team, and he will be available to Dick Advocaat for games against Morocco and Ivory Coast over the next week.
As he heads for international duty, Janssen has spoken to Algemeen Dagblad about his future, suggesting that he wants to play for the Netherlands first, and then he will think about his position with Spurs, admitting he has played less than expected.

Janssen added that, despite the criticism for his performances, he feels he is a better player than when he joined Tottenham, as he is enjoying working with top players at the highest level every day.
“I would first like to focus on the Dutch national team,” said Janssen. “Then we see how well all parties see the future. I have always said: I give myself at least a year the chance at Spurs. I have played less than expected, but I am now a better player by working every day at the top of England,” he added.
