Janssen has backing from Tottenham teammate.

Vincent Janssen’s start at Tottenham Hotspur has been less than inspiring but teammate Christian Eriksen is backing the striker to come good.

Janssen did not manage to score in open play in 2016 for Spurs, failing his audition as Harry Kane’s deputy during the England striker’s injury.

He did manage to net from the penalty spot three times, but Tottenham expected more from one of their big summer signings.

He has the faith of Tottenham teammate Christian Eriksen, with the former Ajax playmaker quoted in ELF Voetbal about his pal.

The outlet report Eriksen saying: “Vincent does not give up and is not afraid of the Premier League defenders. He has the qualities to be sure to succeed at Spurs and I know he will.

“I believe in Vincent. He’s a good kid, a real Dutchman. He just wants to play football and work hard.”

Eriksen also pointed out that Harry Kane did not make an instant impact at Spurs himself, with the talisman going out on loan several times before being eased into the first team.

Janssen is only 22-years-old and has plenty of time to grow at Spurs and utilise the goalscoring ability which saw him top the Eredivisie scoring charts last year and establish himself as a regular international option for the Netherlands.

Opportunities will be few and far between with Kane back on form and scoring 10 goals in 14 games, but Janssen has to make sure he takes the chances he does get in 2017.
