John Terry has joined Aston Villa from Chelsea and that could be great news for Jack Grealish.

Aston Villa have confirmed the capture of free agent John Terry on a one-year contract after the defender left Chelsea this summer.

Terry is one of the most decorated footballers in English football history, with five Premier League titles, five FA Cups and a Champions League winners medal to his name, among other things.

The 36-year-old therefore brings a wealth of experience with him to Villa Park, having played 690 times for the Blues and also earning 78 caps for England – also captaining both sides.

While Terry’s performances for Chelsea last season showed he is not quite the dominant centre-back he once was, perhaps his biggest asset for the Villans will be the leadership qualities he will bring – something which could benefit the club’s youngsters in particular.

The one name that immediately springs to mind is Jack Grealish, a player who has so much natural talent and potential but is yet to truly realise it.

Now aged 21-years-old, Grealish will soon be too old to be considered ‘up and coming’ and will actually have to start trading in the good will in him for consistently decent displays on the pitch.

One of big struggles young players can have is mentally, but with someone like Terry supporting him – who has experienced some huge career highs and lows – perhaps the England Under-21 international can finally be the key figure for Villa that so many thought he would be when he burst onto the scene in 2013.
