Villarreal captain Mario Gasper, Carlos Sanchez and Sergio Reguilon were just some of the players who reacted to West Ham midfielder Pablo Fornals scoring his first goal for Spain on Wednesday.
Spain beat Kosovo 2-0 in their World Cup qualifier, with Fornals, who has been in rich scoring form for West Ham this season, transcending that golden touch onto the international stage.
When Fornals posted on his Instagram ‘what a night’ several players commented on his post.
Villarreal defender Gasper simply wrote: “Congratulations.”, whilst ex-Hammers midfielder Sanchez wrote “Great”.
Darren Randolph also messaged the midfielder by saying: “100% deserved my friend. Congratulations.”
Given how Fornals has been performing this season then there is no doubt that more Spanish caps and goals are to come.
When the Hammers initially signed the 25-year-old from Villarreal in 2019 for £24 million (BBC Sport), he joined as one of the top prospects from La Liga.
But he just couldn’t showcase that under the stewardship of the now unforgettable reign of Manuel Pellegrini.
However, ever since David Moyes returned to East London, he has once again showcased an ability to improve players.
And he is doing just that at the London Stadium, with the likes of Declan Rice, Craig Dawson, Michail Antonio, Aaron Cresswell and Fornals.
