Manchester City midfielder Rodri has claimed that Jack Grealish is ready to compete in the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking to the press ahead of tomorrow’s European opener against RB Leipzig, the Spanish international revealed that City wanted a player of Grealish’s quality this summer to improve their chances of Champions League success.
The England international joined the Premier League champions in the summer for a British transfer record. Grealish is yet to play in Europe at club level after spending his entire career with Aston Villa, though Rodri is confident that the 26-year-old will succeed on the continent.
City will compete in a strong group with PSG and Club Brugge completing the makeup of who Pep Guardiola’s side will be facing off against this year.
City will be eager to win the competition after getting to the final last year. And Rodri believes that Grealish will help the Manchester giants to European success.
The £63m signing from Atletico Madrid said: “Jack is a young guy, he was 26 the other day. he played at Aston Villa so doesn’t have much European experience but that’s not important. We want his level, his quality, the way he fits into the team.”

Indeed, these comments from Rodri caused some amusement amongst City fans on social media, with Grealish being a cause to bait Villa fans over the recent transfer.
