Speaking on the Claret & Blue Podcast, journalist Ashley Preece has claimed that Aston Villa have a big plan for Carney Chukwuemeka this season.

Villa are expected to embed a few of their young stars into the first team this term after their tremendous FA Youth Cup win, and Chukwuemeka looks as though he’ll be one player Dean Smith hands chances to.

Preece says that the 17-year-old won’t be going out on loan and the plan is to give him a chance in the early rounds of the Carabao Cup.

What’s been said?

Preece was asked if there’s any young players to watch out for this season, to which he replied:

“Carney Chukwuemeka, yeah, Villa have got a big plan for him. His first-team involvement will step up a notch come next season. He’ll stick around and play in some of the Carabao Cup rounds to see how he gets on in men’s football. He hasn’t had a loan like Jacob Ramsey did at Doncaster that made him go from a boy to a man, but he’s going to develop around the likes of Grealish and McGinn at Bodymoor Heath.”

Big future

It’s great to hear that Chukwuemeka will get a chance this season.

The youngster looks set to be the next big thing at Villa, with Joe Cole even branding him as a perfect Jack Grealish replacement.

Of course, no Villa fans will want Grealish to leave this summer, but they can take solace in the fact that they have another young talent coming through who could fill his boots in years to come.

Fingers crossed Chukwuemeka shines in these games.
