Laursen, along with Juan Pablo Angel, saw Mings score in Saturday’s 2-1 Championship win over Blackburn at Villa Park.

It’s been a topsy-turvy season for Aston Villa fans but over the past month things have been going superbly, with a surge up the Championship table and into the playoffs thanks to five consecutive victories.

One of the club’s top performers during this amazing run is centre-back Tyrone Mings, who despite only joining Villa in January on loan from Bournemouth, has become a firm fan favourite at B6.

As well as tightening up Villa’s defence, the 26-year-old has also chipped in with two goals, including one in their last fixture, their 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers at Villa Park on Saturday.

The win over Rovers was watched by two Villa legends in Juan Pablo Angel and Martin Laursen, the former a goal machine during his time in claret and blue, the latter a world class defender.

Laursen, a former Denmark international, spent five years in claret and blue after joining from AC Milan in 2004, scoring 11 goals and registering four assists in 91 appearances, before retiring in 2009 (Transfermarkt).

Mings posted a photo of himself with Laursen, taken after the game, on Twitter:

Needless to say it proved a very exciting photo for the Villa fanbase, with some commenting and hoping Mings signs permanently and can become a club legend just like Laursen:
