Aston Villa lost 1-0 to Leicester City on Saturday but what did fans think of Joe Cole’s performance?
Aston Villa could not get back to winning ways, nor find a way to goal, when they faced Leicester City on Saturday, with Paul Lambert’s side going down 1-0 to the Foxes.
Somewhat surprising was the inclusion of Joe Cole in the visitors’ starting line-up, the 33-year-old making only his sixth league appearance of the season and his first league start since a hamstring injury side-lined him for five matches.
Cole had played for Villa in their recent FA Cup third round tie against Blackpool but could he inspire his team to a much-needed victory against Leicester? The answer was no, but how did he fare in regards to his individual performance?
As you can see from the statistics below, Cole had a passing accuracy of 87 per cent while he touched the ball 63 times. However, his attacking contribution was minimal, with just eight forward passes played, one (off-target) shot and one key pass.
| Passing Accuracy | Touches | Forward Pass | Key Passes | Shots | Shots on Target | Dribbles | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Joe Cole | 87% | 63 | 8 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 72 |
Cole was regarded as one of the best players of his generation when he first broke onto the scene, but it is fair to say things have not always gone according to plan since those heady days at West Ham United.
