Aston Villa lost 2-1 to Chelsea on Saturday, but what did the fans think of on-loan Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley’s performance.
Aston Villa gave a good account of themselves against Chelsea on Saturday, despite ultimately falling to a 2-1 defeat.
The Villans’ goal drought was ended when defender Jores Okore cancelled out Eden Hazard’s opening goal but defender Branislav Ivanovic scored the winner to stretch Chelsea’s lead at the top of the Premier League.
For all Villa’s fighting spirit they managed just a single shot on target and they need more creativity in the midfield as well as more confidence up front.
One player who was brought in to offer that creativity was Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley, but the England international has flattered to deceive this season and against Chelsea he offered little.
While Villa’s on-loan midfielder had a passing accuracy of 88 per cent, only six of his 37 passes were played forward. He also failed to play a single key pass, while he did not win a single tackle or interception.
| Passing Accuracy | Key Passes | Accurate Passes | Forward Pass | Tackles Won | Interceptions Won | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tom Cleverley | 88% | 0 | 37 | 6 | 0 | 0 | 74 |
