Stan Collymore wrote on Twitter that Leeds United have a ‘hard streak’ to their game which Aston Villa need.
Whilst Leeds have enjoyed some positive results and performances against both Manchester clubs and the current Premier League champions in recent weeks, Villa have continued to struggle without their expert ball-carrier in the team.
Villa recorded a 2-2 draw against West Brom on Sunday – a much better attacking performance from Dean Smith’s men, who for a number of weeks have played like a team with the handbrakes on and unable to even get in their car.
Many a team would struggle without their star man, and it’s no different with Villa and Grealish.
But they have been playing like a team that’s trying to survive, rather than one that has progressed a significant amount since last season and is sitting comfortably in the Premier League table.
But it seems as though Collymore wants to see more fight from this Villa side, as he used Leeds as an example for the Midlands giants.
Both Villa and Leeds will head into these final few weeks of the Premier League season fighting for a top ten finish.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men are sitting ninth, at this moment in time, and whilst they are two points ahead of Villa, the B6-based outfit have a game in hand.
Either way, given that Leeds are newly-promoted and Villa only survived with minutes left of the last campaign, then this season can go down as a plus for both, but the expectations will only rise during these coming years.
