Aston Villa picked up a hard-fought point against Birmingham City yesterday.
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has insisted that his side’s performance levels will not drop off following their draw with fierce rivals Birmingham City in response to a question pertaining to the sometimes anti-climatic feeling experienced by players following a big derby game, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
The Villains have started well under Bruce’s reign, picking up eight points from a possible 12 available, and they now sit in 15th position in the Championship table, just six points adrift of the play-off spots.

Next up for the Midlands outfit is a home match against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, and Bruce told reporters how he will make sure that his side show the same commitment and intensity they displayed at St Andrews, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail:
“Blackburn at home is it? We’ve got a week to prepare then and the players will be fine. The unfortunate thing then is the international break. That’s what the Championship is, though. It comes thick and fast.”

Villa made a horrendous start to their 2016/17 campaign under Roberto Di Matteo, with his deficiency in tactical knowledge being brutally exposed at Championship level.
Bruce’s arrival has coincided with a huge improvement in both performances and results, however, and many Villa fans are now genuinely confident of the possibility of gaining promotion this season.
