According to Diaro Sport, reported Aston Villa, Sheffield United and Burnley target Marc Roca has signed for Bayern Munich on a four-year deal.

The Spain U21 international midfielder has been heavily linked with a move this past summer following Espanyol’s relegation from La Liga last season.

While some players such as Wu Lei opted to stick it out with the Catalan club, Roca seemingly had no intentions of playing second division football this term.

Diario Sport in June claimed Arsenal had an offer on the table for him.

But last week a report from La Grada claimed interest in Roca had waned leaving duo Sheffield United and Burnley as the most likely destination ahead of the deadline.

Mundo Deportivo, meanwhile, claimed a few days ago how Aston Villa were also rivalling the Blades and the Clarets in the race to sign the holding midfielder.

The Premier League trio, however, have now seemingly missed out. Barcelona-based paper Diario Sport say a deal with Bayern Munich has been agreed.

Roca will join Bayern on a four-year deal for around £13 million, pending a medical.

It will come as a blow to Villa, Sheffield United and Burnley, especially the latter who have really struggled to strengthen their squad ahead of the deadline.

Burnley have signed Dale Stephens from Brighton and Hove Albion, but many supporters at Turf Moor will feel he is only plugging a rather big void left by Jeff Hendrick.

Sean Dyche’s side have lost all three of their opening Premier League games. They need players in, otherwise they could be in for a season of struggle.

Villa, on the other hand, have spent well and won their two opening league games while Sheffield United will be boosted by the recent arrival of Rhian Brewster.
