Vijay Singh is set to make his return to the PGA Tour next week at the Sony Open in Hawaii, marking a rare appearance on the main circuit in recent years.
The 62-year-old has competed only sporadically on the PGA Tour since the 2020 season, when he made eight starts. Over the past decade, Singh has focused primarily on the PGA Tour Champions, but he has now chosen to activate a career money-list exemption that grants him full PGA Tour status for the 2025 season.
With his comeback imminent, attention has turned to how Singh performed in his most recent PGA Tour start two years ago.
Revisiting Singh’s last PGA Tour appearance

Singh’s most recent PGA Tour outing came at the 2024 Masters, where he retains a lifetime exemption following his victory at Augusta National in 2000.
He successfully reached the weekend after opening with rounds of 75 (+3) and 73 (+1). The third round, however, proved extremely difficult, as he carded a 10-over-par 82. Singh responded strongly on Sunday, posting an even-par 72 that allowed him to avoid finishing last among those who made the cut.
While that showing was two years ago, it suggests that Singh should be capable of competing respectably at the Sony Open, even if expectations of capturing a 35th PGA Tour title remain unrealistic.

Notably, Singh finished two strokes ahead of Tiger Woods at Augusta, with Woods the only player below him on the leaderboard among those who completed all four rounds.
In addition, several high-profile stars failed to reach the weekend altogether, including Justin Rose, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth and Viktor Hovland — further underlining the competitiveness of Singh’s performance despite his age and limited schedule.
