Several of the Leeds United stars not featuring in the FA Cup tie have taken to Twitter after Gaetano Berardi broke the deadlock at Rodney Parade.

Ronaldo Vieira and Stuart Dallas were among the Leeds players to take to Twitter after Gaetano Berardi nearly sparked a pitch invasion during the Whites’ FA Cup tie with Newport County with a stunning opening goal in the game, while Pontus Jansson posted a video and paid a musical tribute.
Berardi is the ultimate cult-hero in the current Leeds squad, and pne of the reasons that he is so popular amongst the Elland Road faithful is the fact that he recently brought up his century of appearances for the club but was still awaiting his first goal for the Whites – in fact, he went into the cup game still awaiting the first goal of his professional career.

But Berardi – who was captaining the side at Rodney Parade – needed just nine minutes against the League Two side to finally end the wait for the goal, and it was a strike befitting of the occasion as he fired a low, fizzing shot into the back of the net from well outside the box to spark wild scenes in the away end.
And a number of his teammates took to social media to celebrate the goal.

Both Ronaldo Vieira and Stuart Dallas’ very brief tweets summed up the shock and delight of the Leeds fans, while Pontus Jansson went one stage further, making a video for the occasion.
The Swede – who, like Vieira and Dallas, was not in the squad for the trip to Wales – filmed himself singing the song that has regularly been heard at Elland Road since the full-back arrived in 2014, and may now need reworking after Berardi opened his account.
Here is what some of the defender’s teammates made of the goal…
