Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes and Tottenham ace Richarlison have both been called-up by Brazil for the Qatar World Cup – and videos have emerged on Twitter of both players celebrating with their families.
Brazil manager Tite announced his 26-man squad on Monday – ahead of the tournament starting in less than two weeks. Qatar play Ecuador on November 20. England face Iran on the 21st, while Brazil play Serbia on the 24th.
Guimaraes, 25, has been in electric form and fresh from scoring for Newcastle on Sunday against Southampton in a 4-1 win, he has been included. The move to Newcastle from Lyon has seen him prosper, and become a regular Brazil ace.
Richarlison was also on the move in 2022, leaving Everton for Tottenham. He has only scored two goals since before picking up an injury, but he has also been included. Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino is probably the biggest omission.
Watching on as Tite announced his squad in a press conference, footage of both Guimaraes’ family – along with newborn son Matteo – and Richarlison’s family emerged. Both were expected to be included, but still, delighted.

Brazil have one of the best squads in the tournament and are right up there when it comes to favourites for the entire trophy. Guimaraes is arguably one of the most in-form players in the Premier League at this given moment in time.
He is the darling of Tyneside already, since his move from Lyon. Whether he will be starting for Brazil is another question, given the midfield talent on offer. Fabinho of Liverpool, Casemiro and Fred of Manchester United and more.
Richarlison also has plenty of competition ahead of him. But in terms of actual no.9’s, he is preferred by Tite. That is, despite the inclusion of Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus. Neymar, Vinicius, Raphinha and others are preferred out wide.
