Aston Villa and Newcastle United transfer target Arnaut Danjuma might have been watching clips of Leon Bailey’s recent miss against Wolves.

The Villarreal winger, whilst on the counter-attack in stoppage-time, missed an open goal during his side’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid in La Liga on Saturday.

Whilst Danjuma’s miss wasn’t costly, the one from Bailey at Villa Park in midweek certainly was.

The Jamaica international was fed an outstanding ball over the top by Danny Ings, he took a brilliant first touch before being closed down by Wolves players and goalkeeper Jose Sa.

Bailey was quick enough to round the keeper, with an open goal awaiting him to score the winning goal in stoppage-time.

But rather than hit the target, on his weaker right foot, he hardly made clean contact with the ball and his effort going wide.

Well, Danjuma, as you can see below, produced his own ‘miss of the season’, although, his team were 2-1 ahead and still claimed the points.

VILLA AND NEWCASTLE TRANSFER INTEREST IN DANJUMA

Both Villa and Newcastle have been knocked out of the FA Cup, both to lower league sides and shock results of the weekend.

For Eddie Howe’s side, they were booted out by League One Sheffield Wednesday, whilst Unai Emery watched his team, despite taking the lead, lose 2-1 to League Two Stevenage.

Whilst Newcastle are flying high in the Premier League, the same can’t be said for Villa, who will probably look towards the transfer market in order to make changes to their squad.

Emery, who joined Villa from Villarreal, has spoken about needing a forward/winger, well, there is talk that they want Danjuma, alongside Newcastle, and given this recent shock result to Stevenage, it wouldn’t be a surprise if someone steps on the accelerator.
