Huddersfield Town are looking all set for a place in the play-offs, and a shot at Premier League football.

With one eye now on the potential of Premier League football next season, Huddersfield Town fans are currently living in dreamland. Despite spending nearly a decade in League One, and spending most of their time in the Championship closer to the relegation zone than the play-offs, Huddersfield Town have been ‘revolutionised’ by new boss David Wagner, and could now be about to take the big step up to England’s top flight.

So who has been the stand-out performer for Huddersfield Town this season? David Wagner has brought in a number of signings during his time at the club. Some on loan. Some permanent. But is there one that has really caught the eye of fans? HITC Sport went to meet Huddersfield Town fans to find out…

Huddersfield Town celebrate

Huddersfield Town’s German defender Christopher Schindler picked up a lot of plaudits amongst fans. The German has been a rock at the back for their side this season, and has played a major part in their impressive leap up the table.

“Schindler by far, he’s kept the squad where it needs to be” said one Huddersfield Town fan, who was clearly a big fan of the defender. “Apart from that, when Kasey Palmer’s played I’ve really enjoyed watching him. There’s something special about him. And Izzy Brown.” It’s nice to be spoilt for choice, eh Huddersfield fans?

“Izzy Brown’s bringing something completely different to the team.” The former Rotherham loanee joined Huddersfield Town on loan from Chelsea this season and has been excellent.

Other fans also named Tommy Smith, who has flourished on the wing this season, and Elias Kachunga, who has picked up plenty of assists and goals for Huddersfield.

“Nhaki Wells has come on good” said another Huddersfield Town fan. The striker looked to be on his way out in the summer, but has stuck with David Wagner and proved to be a useful goalscorer.
