With Sunderland and Newcastle both enjoying contrasting fortunes at opposite ends of their respective divisions this season, would the Black Cats be tempted to take any players from their rivals?
After entering 2017, and another tough January transfer window, Sunderland fans will be watching keenly to see what business (if any) the Black Cats can do at this pivotal point of the Premier League season. With Chairman, Ellis Short, hoping to sell the club as quickly as possible, the chance of possibly arrivals coming to the Stadium of Light this month is looking fairly bleak, and the Black Cats are potentially facing more of an exodus of players, than any incomings.
Desperate times can call for desperate measures, and despite their bitter rivalry, one excellent source of players for Sunderland in this window might just be at their neighbours, Newcastle United. Over the years, a number of players have moved between clubs, most notably the Black Cats’ former favourite Jack Colback heading over to the Toon Army, so the possibility of more changes of allegiances isn’t so unrealistic.
With this in mind, we are asked Sunderland fans which Newcastle United players they’d be happy to see don a red and white shirt.

Despite a number of fans suggesting that they wouldn’t want any players from their rivals, some suggested that they would be happy to see former midfielder, Jack Colback, return to the Stadium of Light. Another player which seemed to be hot on the lips of Sunderland fans was striker, Dwight Gayle, who has scored 19 goals so far in the Championship. With Sunderland in need of goals, this might well be a smart option for the Black Cats.
