Newcastle United have been promoted back to the Premier League as Champions at the first time of asking.

After a challenging season in the Championship, Newcastle United have found their way back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, and were crowned Champions last weekend after beating Barnsley 3-0 at home on the final day of the season. Since signing Rafa Benitez to a long-term contract last summer, the Magpies have been working hard to rebuild the club from the bottom up, and look in good shape to cement themselves back in England’s top flight next season.

“Everything for a Geordie, absolutely everything” said one Newcastle United fan, when asked what getting promotion at the first time of asking meant to supporters. “Fantastic feeling to be back in the Premier League” said another Newcastle fan, with another adding “Best thing for the club ever. Rafa Benitez has been outstanding.”

“When it comes to football around here, there’s not much for the working man to enjoy” said another Newcastle United fan, “coming out of here [St James Park], getting back to the Premier League, it means the world to us.”

“It’s all we could have asked for when we first went down” added another Newcastle supporter, “if you would have said to me, at the last game of the season you’d have said to me we were going to come straight back, I’d of snapped your hand off for it.

“I would of been happy if we’d gone up second anyway” added another Newcastle fan, who felt a bit sorry for Chris Hughton. The former Newcastle United manager has had to settle for second with Brighton and Hove Albion. Regardless of this though, both teams will be playing Premier League football next season, and that’s all that matters!
