Is Slaven Bilic the right man for West Ham? Can he turn their season around?
After spells managing the Croatian national side, Lokomotiv Moscow and Besiktas, not many football fans knew exactly what West Ham were getting when it was announced last summer that Slaven Bilic, a former player, would be taking over as manager. A popular character amongst West Ham supporters, the move looked to be somewhat of a gamble. However, after a first league win against Arsenal, things only got better from there for the Croatian.
After an outstanding first season in charge though, things have started to go a little pear-shaped at the London Stadium. After failing to bring in a top-class striker in the summer, and now faced with losing their best player Dimitri Payet, the Hammers have hit a rocky patch, and some fans are starting to wonder whether they need a new man at the helm.
So should West Ham stick or twist? Are there better options out there? HITC Sport asked West Ham fans this and more…

“I like Slaven” replied one West Ham fan, “I think he’s got a very level-head, and I think he’s very good with the lads”. Another West Ham fan mentioned that he “wouldn’t want anyone else in charge”, with another fan mentioned that “he knows what he’s doing, and is good at man management.” It seems that, despite a rocky start, Bilic still has plenty of backing at the London Stadium.
“Probably 80-90% of West Ham fans back Slaven Bilic” mentioned another West Ham fan, with one other suggesting that he’s “under no pressure” and that anyone suggesting he was, was talking “absolute rubbish.”
Not all West Ham fans are sold on the Croatian though. One suggested that “six games ago I didn’t think he was [the right man for the job]”, with another West Ham fan mentioning that he was the right man “for the moment.”
Clearly, the jury is still out on Bilic, but as with all things in football, the points will do the talking.
