Manchester United saw their under-21 side draw away to Southampton last night.

In front of an attendance of little over 400, Southampton’s young guns pushed United’s all the way to the limit in the under-21 Premier League, drawing 3-3.

Visitors United opened the scoring through bright prospect Jesse Lingard in just the third minute of the game, with his shot taking a deflection into the net.

Lingard went on United’s pre-season tour and featured on the bench in their recent League Cup game at home to Newcastle.

The game remained 1-0 at half-time, before Southampton starlet Jake Sinclair netted twice in the space of five minutes.

United were not to be outdone, with the highly rated Larnell Cole equalising to take the game to 2-2.

Into the 89th minute, United thought they had won it, when Swiss youngster Frederic Veseli marched up field and volleyed in a cross from Joshua King.

Veseli was on as a substitution for Bebe, who played 78 minutes of the match, but the goal was not enough to claim victory.

Southampton ensured home fans did not go home disappointed, with Calum Chambers firing in from a goalmouth scramble in the fourth minute of injury time.
