Roma destroyed Genoa 4-0 and the pick of the goals was a stunning overhead kick from Alessandro Florenzi which even made Francesco Totti jealous.
Roma returned to form after a 3-0 defeat to Juventus in emphatic style, hammering Genoa 4-0 with Alessandro Florenzi providing the highlight of the match.
The Giallorossi are eight points behind leaders Juventus at the top of the Serie A table but they looked every bit Scudetto challengers as they ripped Genoa apart.
The opening goal was a masterpiece as Francesco Totti’s free-kick was deflected up in the air and Florenzi followed its flight to launch into a perfectly executed bicycle kick.
“If I’d scored it I’d have considered retiring on the spot. I wouldn’t have got up off the ground,” the Roma talisman enthused.
“My compliments to Alessandro because he really has scored one of Serie A’s top goals.”
Totti did get on the score-sheet, albeit less dramatically, when his low drive was deflected in for 2-0 and Maicon scored on a counter-attack after a Florenzi assist.
Mehdi Benatia’s header rounded off the scoring at 4-0 but Genoa’s Francelino Matuzalem stole some headlines with a bizarre sending off for an insulting gesture to the Roma fans as he walked off having been substituted.
Referee Gianpaolo Calvarese brandished the card before Matuzalem left the field, so Genoa were left with 10 men.
