Tottenham Hotspur youngster Joshua Onomah hit the headlines with a stunning long-range goal for the England Under-21’s.
The international break has come to an end, and Tottenham Hotspur will mostly be pleased with how their players have fared with their countries.
Harry Kane scored twice in two games for England, Son Heung-min found the net for South Korea, whilst Jan Vertonghen became Belgium’s most-capped player of all time too.
The likes of Toby Alderweireld, Ben Davies, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli will all return to North London unscathed, and manager Mauricio Pochettino will also be encouraged with the performance of Joshua Onomah.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who has been coming up through the ranks with Spurs, was a part of the England Under-21 side against Scotland on Friday night, and he opened the scoring in the 3-1 win at the Riverside Stadium.
Onomah hit the headlines with his stunning goal, taking the ball down 25 yards from goal before unleashing a dipping volley into the top corner of the net.
Onomah, who has been tipped for a huge future for club and country, even took his exploits to the training pitch, as the official England Twitter account posted a video on Tuesday of Onomah scoring a superb free kick.
Spurs fans will be encouraged by his goal against Scotland and his free kick, whilst Aston Villa – where Onomah is spending the season on loan – will also be pleased, given that he was rested by the England Under-21’s for Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Andorra.
That means Onomah should be fit and fresh to play in Villa’s upcoming Championship game against Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he will be looking to build on his strong international break.
