So, it seems Tottenham are close to making their third signing of the summer, after a £25m deal for Yves Bissouma was agreed with Brighton.

The Mali international is now set to undergo a medical in London, before he joins Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster at Hotspur Way as part of a summer overhaul in N17. Bissouma will sign a five-year contract.

It’s a very exciting deal for Tottenham fans, and the Spurs supporters already have a reason to love the 25-year-old, even before he’s kicked a ball for them.

What’s the story?

Well, after Brighton prevented Arsenal from qualifying for the Champions League in 2019 by holding them to a 1-1 draw, Bissouma found the funny side of it.

The Brighton No.8 could be seen walking around the Emirates Stadium in fits of laughter as the likes of Nacho Monreal sat on the turf in disbelief and despair, as you can see below.

Tottenham reached the Champions League final that year, and also finished in the top four, so Spurs fans surely took great pleasure in seeing their bitter rivals miss out at the end of the campaign.

Nobody knows for sure why Bissouma was laughing, although it certainly looked as if he was enjoying the mood of disappointment at the Emirates Stadium that day in 2019.

Tottenham have more lined up after Yves Bissouma

By the sounds of it, Tottenham aren’t stopping once Bissouma is announced.

The Express believe Antonio Conte wants four more signings before pre-season begins, with a £20m move for Middlesbrough’s Djed Spence in the pipeline.

Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni could also be signed, while Spurs are looking at a deal for Richarlison.

Christian Eriksen could also return to N17, as Conte eyes a reunion with the Dane.

Evidently, Daniel Levy is prepared to back the Italian, ahead of what looks set to be a very exciting 2022/23 campaign for Tottenham.
