Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United transfer target, Anthony Gordon, has been handed the number ten shirt by Everton.

The Merseyside club posted 12-second footage of their player in the new Everton kit and how he will now don number 10 after wearing number 24 last season.

With Richarlison out of the door and signing for Spurs, added with Everton’s financial issues, it has raised questions as to whether Gordon will follow him.

It has previously been suggested that those in north London want to try and use Dele Alli in luring the ‘top player’ to Hotspur Way and he could even be loaned back if he signs for the Champions League-bound side.

But Antonio Conte isn’t the only one keen on the Englishman because Eddie Howe at Newcastle United is looking at the thriving winger, who enjoyed a breakthrough campaign as his boyhood club survived relegation by the skin of their teeth last season.

Nonetheless, despite all that noise about Gordon’s future, the club posted the following clip on Twitter, which perhaps indicates what they think about his future.

GORDON SHOULD STAY AT GOODISON PARK

The all-action winger improved in a dramatic fashion last season and showcased to the footballing world that he belongs on the top stage.

What was even better with Gordon’s performances is that they came during difficult moments when his side were on the floor and needed players to step up.

If he wants to continue that development, then the Liverpool-born player should stay put and continue his rise on Merseyside.

At Spurs, with questions about how much game time Richarlison will get, someone like Gordon isn’t going to rock up and start games week in and week out.

Added with that, whilst the Newcastle project is tempting, at the end of the day, they aren’t in Europe, so from that perspective, he’s not stepping up a level.
