With Sam Allardyce having taken charge of Crystal Palace, are Sunderland fans worried by the prospect of facing their former boss in a relegation scrap?
Once again, Sunderland are facing a big fight to stay up this season. After what seems like season after season of constant worrying and relegation woe, the Black Cats had hoped that things were looking up at the end of the 2015/16 Premier League season. However, England came calling, and Sam Allardyce departed the Stadium of the Light, being replaced by former Manchester United, David Moyes. Though Moyes has fought hard to get his Sunderland team competing, a lack of funds and player reinforcements are catching up with the Black Cats, as they look to face another tricky transfer window.
After his England debacle, Sam Allardyce is now back in the Premier League, helping Sunderland’s relegation rivals Crystal Palace battle for safety. With their former man back, HITC Sport asked Sunderland fans for their thoughts on Sam Allardyce’s return.

“I didn’t want him to leave Sunderland to start with” professed one Sunderland fan, who was obviously gutted about Big Sam’s return to the Premier League. “I’d like to have seen him here” added another, “but he was poached by England, wasn’t he? England came calling and it upset the whole place.”
Sunderland fans also seemed pretty adamant that Big Sam would manage to keep the Eagles in the Premier League this season, with one Sunderland fan suggesting that Big Sam would do a decent job at any club he was at, because he’s that good a manager. Maybe, in hindsight, England might regret not giving Big Sam more time at the helm.
