With Sunderland seemingly destined for relegation to the Championship, what players would the fans like to see leave the club this summer?

It’s been on the cards for the last few years, but it looks like Sunderland’s time in the Premier League is about to run out. The club have been flirting with relegation for a while now, and despite looking like going places under Sam Allardyce, a year with David Moyes has all but destined the Black Cats to the Championship.

And with a number of their players seriously under-performing this season, the list of those going out the door at the Stadium of Light this summer could be a long one. But who do Sunderland fans want to see the club leave? Are there any players that they wish the club had never signed? And do any deserve a second chance in the Championship?

“When you look at a team of individuals who aren’t fully committed, apart from Jermain Defoe, it’s a really worrying thing” said one Sunderland supporter, who didn’t know where to start when asked which Sunderland players he’d like to see first out the door come the end of the season. “If you look at the team sheet; that is a Championship team” said another Sunderland fan.

“There’s quite a few players who need to go who haven’t been showing the passion” said another Sunderland supporter, who was disappointed with what he had seen from the majority of Black Cats players this season. “Their heart hasn’t been there at all” added another.

One fan named Fabio Borini as the first player he’d like to see out the door claiming that “His attitudes not been the same as what it was when he was on loan.” Another supporter mentioned that Borini hadn’t been worth the hassle that it took to sign him from Liverpool. Rodwell, O’Shea, Larsson and Gibson all got called out as well, but in truth it was hard for Sunderland fans to pick just one player, when in reality their plight has been down to the entire squad consistently under-performing.
