No impact, no goals from open play, where’s it going wrong for Vincent Janssen? Spurs fans tell us in this video.
After joining in the summer from Dutch side, AZ Alkmaar, striker Vincent Janssen has struggled to force himself a place in Mauricio Pochettino’s side. The big frontman, who scored 27 goals in 34 appearances for AZ last season, was brought in to challenge Spurs’ leading man Harry Kane, but has failed to impress so far after scoring just one league goal.
After a recent HITC poll, Janssen was voted the 2nd player fans would most like to see leave White Hart Lane this month, as some Tottenham fans doubt whether the striker is the right fit for Pochettino’s system, and whether he is an adequate enough back up for Harry Kane. With this in mind, HITC Sport asked Tottenham Hotspur fans for their views and opinions on Vincent Janssen.

“I think for him, it’s his physicality” suggested one Spurs fan, who went on to add “I don’t think he excels in any one thing and to score goals regularly in the Premier League, you have to have something…I think he’s too slow.”
“I’ve got to be totally honest, I’m a season ticket holder and I don’t think any of us have been impressed by what we’ve seen. He wants to do well for us but it’s not been happening. I think we should persevere with him though.” Spurs fans are a persistent bunch, and seem to see something in the Dutch striker. However, his goal-scoring record needs to improve.
“I think the problem we’ve got is, if we do lose Kane, we just can’t rely on him” added another Spurs fan, who seemed to sum up the general feeling around White Hart Lane. Perhaps Janseen’s future will become more clear in the summer, but for now, Spurs fans look to be sticking with him.
