Ryan Edmondson joined Leeds United in November and he has now scored for the Whites for the first time.

Less than a week after Jay-Roy Grot found the back of the net for the first time in a Leeds shirt as he scored for the under-23s in their win over Huddersfield, another recent signing, Ryan Edmondson, has also notched up his first goals for the Whites.
Edmondson joined the club back in November from York City, with Leeds confirming on their official website that he has signed a contract until 2020 after rejecting offers from elsewhere to head to Elland Road.

And he has started to show glimpses of why Leeds looked to sign him at the end of last year after he inspired the club’s under-18 side to a win over Birmingham City on Saturday morning, scoring both of Leeds’ goals in the 2-1 win.
The first goal came from a close-range header. But, while the chance may have ultimately proved fairly simple, it was Edmondson’s brilliant run and his teammates’ movement as the corner came in that meant that he had an easier time finding the back of the net.

The 16-year-old positioned himself on the edge of the box for a corner and on the near side to where the corner was being taken from. However, he quickly lost his marker with an excellent spin that saw him head towards the back post unmarked while a number of his teammates created the space as they all initially darted for the front post.
Edmondson still had a lot of work to do as he found himself in a crowd of Blues players, but his leap allowed the teenager to get his head to the ball and powerfully send it into the bottom corner.
His second goal was less about instinct and more to do with composure. Edmondson was played in down the right with a nicely-weighted through ball after he peeled off the centre-back, and he took full advantage of the opening to pass the ball into the bottom corner for his second goal of the game.
It seems it may well be a while before Edmondson is running out regularly for the under-23s, let alone coming onto the first-team radar, but the signs just hint that Leeds have signed a player who may have something about him to get the fans excited about his future.
